blog about DS Biz

One of the best ways to build relationships and grow your Direct Sales Business is to start a BLOG!

In my last blog post we discussed adding value to customers and hostesses with a VIP Customer Facebook Group. Blogging with tips about your products, your business opportunity and the balance you find running a home based business is another added value component to growing your business.

  • A blog helps you add value when you share the facts and benefits of your fantastic products.
  • A blog helps you add value when you share story snippets of fun antics that happen at your parties with hostesses and guests.
  • A blog helps you add value for a prospective person on making a decision to join your team.

As a Direct Sales Business Owner and Leader, you want to become known for your expertise in the field that you’re in. My field was fashion and (BB – before blogging) one of the ways I connected with my customers was a special “Customer” newsletter. I called it “Gale’s Fashion Tips” and if I looked back at the information in that newsletter it would have been a blog today.

Every month I shared a fashion tip on how to dress for success, or how to accessorize, or how to de-clutter your closet. There was always information in this newsletter that my customers wanted to learn.   But what was really happening was my customers weren’t only learning about my products, they were getting to know “me.” They learned how I worked as a busy Mom of three teenagers. They learned how I loved to create outfits with a special wardrobe solution. They learned about my life as a Direct Sales Leader and they learned how my team grew to the million-dollar level and became the number one team in the nation.

They also learned about the fabulous trips I took to Europe, Asia and the Americas. Every month I was traveling with my company, paid for by my company. But most of all they learned about the success of others, my team members, who I highlighted often in this customer newsletter. It’s all these points you can use in starting a blog.

Another advantage is spreading your blog information about your business on social media. This is expanding your reach all over the world wide web. Once you’ve written your blog, you can share it

  • on Facebook in your personal page
  • on Facebook in your business page
  • on Facebook in appropriate groups you belong
  • on Pinterest in a special “Blog” board
  • on Twitter writing snippets from the blog every day for a week
  • on Instagram with the images you use
  • on LinkedIn
  • on Snapchat and Persicope with special quick videos

These are just a few ideas that help you brand yourself as an expert in your industry of direct sales. All of which will help you have sales, get future bookings and attract those people who are looking for your opportunity.

In essence, you are setting yourself apart from others, because your blog will help you stand out from the crowd of many direct sellers. Writing useful content from YOUR perspective is unique to you alone.

One caveat, make sure your company’s policies allow you to have your blog. Then, get visible and start your blog. Do your research, look at other blogs. Don’t get fancy and think you have to have bells and whistles. WordPress is one way to start a free blog, and there are many others.
