one-notebooy-system-lot-to-keep-track-of

As I opened my emails this Monday morning, I got that warm, fuzzy, feeling inside that helped me know I am doing some things right in fulfilling my passion in helping my coaching clients thrive.  The email read:

“Hi Gale, I want to thank you for EVERYTHING you taught me in my Direct Sales career. I am using MANY of the skills that I learned from you in my new career as a realtor.

“One of the things that you taught me was to use a Moleskine notebook. So I went to Barnes and Noble and bought a “Mole skin” in my mind notebook. I could not figure out why it was called a mole skin notebook and at the time never really thought about it too deep. I have been using various notepads that I had at home and now I need another mole skin notebook. So of course I googled it “Mole Skin” Notebook. Well now I know after all of these years that it is a Moleskine notebook. Every time I use my Moleskine notebook I will think of you and how blessed I am to have this system in my life. It keeps me on top of my deadlines and productive everyday!

I miss SO many people from my direct sales career and I struggled for a long time in finding my way. Now I am thankful that I’m able to use all of the skills that I learned to become the confident independent person that I was meant to be. Thank you so much for all of the life skills that you taught me to be successful! I will be forever grateful!”

One of the big things that holds us back in being successful in our business is having too much to do!  Yes, that crazy word, OVERWHELM pops up all the time. And in today’s busy digital world it seems like everyone has an “app” for that, or an online scheduling software, which is a great way to keep organized and productive if that suits your way of being.

But for some of us, the “old fashioned” way – (old fashioned has now become only in the last 5 to 10 years) we still prefer to WRITE things down in a notebook!  In your one notebook you get to …

  • Write notes and remember them.
  • Write a to-do list
  • Write a record of goals and dreams
  • Write a note to yourself
  • Write and track lists
  • Write and track projects
  • Write a list of daily tasks
  • A place to track important bills
  • A place to express your creativity (yes, lots of doodling art)

So, if you are one of these people (like I am) let me introduce you to my ONE NOTEBOOK system. Let me ask you a question.  How much time do you spend

  • searching for a phone number you wrote on a piece of paper?
  • Or digging for an important message you wrote down – you wrote it somewhere?
  • What about the prospect you just met at a networking event yesterday, who was interested in your opportunity? Where did you put her name and number?
  • Then there is that great idea you want to implement and you wrote it down thinking you’d “take action later” but you never think of it again because it disappeared, and when you think of it later you simply put that idea aside.

You know those pieces of paper and important messages are buried somewhere. When you spend a lot of time searching, looking under piles of papers and through files, you wish you had a more efficient system.

one-notebookThis was happening to me when I was running my million-dollar team with over 500 people across the country. I had to develop a system to keep everything in ONE place. Of course, I had my online lists and connections, but I declared that there would be no more pieces of paper floating around my office, no more hidden sticky notes, or floating contacts. I decided to keep it all in my ONE Notebook.

I love Moleskine notebooks because I love  the size that fits perfectly in every purse I carry. They also have a pocket in back to keep all those lovely business cards you collect. I love the story of Moleskine and how it evolved that Ernest Hemingway would spend hours in a French café writing his novels in a Moleskine notebook.

In the one notebook system I help my clients create a daily ritual and be-purposefully-productive-inch-goalswork on a disciplined structure that helps them not only feel organized, but become more productive, and it’s productivity that gets things done and helps us achieve goals.  We work on being “purposefully productive.”

When you learn this small, but very important technique, you will get over being overwhelmed by all that’s happening in your life and business. One of the key frustrations for many of my coaching clients, knowing how to organize their personal and team business.

This is the BEST organizational tool that works if you are someone who loves to write down your goals, make lists and track important ideas for follow-up. When I teach it to my clients, they LOVE IT!

And so, it was a feeling of gratitude, today, when I heard from my client how this one small technique has helped her in her new career move and she is thriving!
