DAY 12 networking fun

I love to network and meet new and interesting women? When you have new and interesting customers coming into your life, business is booming!   Networking keeps you motivated in your business.

The one thing that attracted me to direct sales was my product. I LOVED my fashions. I LOVED helping women with a wardrobe solution. That was my mission when I was networking. When you LOVE sharing information about how your products help people they hear that passion in your voice.

Another very important part of networking is to be a great listener. Summer is one of the best times of the year to “hear” who will be your new customer. You’ll “hear” who is looking for a home-based business.   You’ll “hear” if the person you’re talking to is a person of influence who knows a lot of other women and could be your next referral source.

When you are “actively listening” you are receiving what I call “free information,” and when you keep adding on and asking more questions about “her,” she then becomes very interested in “you”.

summet networking fun powerful story

Go to page 9 in your Summer Action Plan workbook and view the important steps to creating your own powerful story at your networking events.

First step is to LISTEN, and then

  • Ask questions.  You want to get to know this person, so ask questions about their work, their family, their hobbies. Find out as much as you can asking questions in the amount of time you have.
  • Then, Look for the connection, or I call it the commonality. What is it that you think both of you have in common. Is it an idea or perhaps it’s kids in pre-school, or kids in college? Now you’re building a fine friendship.
  • Go a little further with more questions, mostly about the connection so you’re both smiling and recognizing the commonality. Then pause,
  • and, then you’ll hear her say.. “And what do you do, Gale?” (because you’ve been talking only about her.)

Here’s your chance to pitch, but still keep it short and sweet.  If you go into a long dissertation or sharing what you do by rote, you’ll be boring. So be prepared with what I call a one-liner.

Don’t say,   “I sell (products)!” That is boring.   Have an exciting and interesting one–liner that creates lots of interest.

Here are some of my favorite one-liners

  • “I help women feel good about themselves!” This generates all kinds of responses and opens the door for future conversation.
  • “I help make a difference in women’s lives!” When asked how, share information on your home-based business, and let the questions continue.
  • “Every day, I introduce women to a world of fun, friends, and earning great monthly income.” This one-liner again creates interest to ask how do you do that?

When your one-liner prompts a question, like, “How do you help women feel good about themselves?” then add a little more information about the “how” your products and your business helps people feel good. Keep it short and interesting.

Then, let the conversation go back and forth and keep dripping out more information.

Tell your story enthusiastically, but be light hearted.   You want her to remember you as the person who can help her with a product that has a wonderful solution.

Now, you want to go to the NEXT STEP with this person, so you might say, “I’d love to invite you to one of my home showings, or let’s set a time for a private appointment, or let’s exchange information and I’ll call you later so we can connect.”   Word it enthusiastically and light hearted with zero pressure for her to connect with you. But when you’ve exchanged information, you know the next step will be your follow-up to this meeting to introduce your products.

Practice these tips everywhere you go this summer! Have fun networking. The summer months are some of the best months to meet new customers and hostesses. So, be strategic, make it your mission to grow your customer list and your hostess list over these next three months. Set a 90-day goal and write up places you want to network to meet these people.
