What happens when a team member says to you,  “I’m going to take the summer off?”  We know if you take the summer off in your Direct Sales Business, you lose momentum.

After experiencing this every summer with my million-dollar team, I knew I had to do something different.  I realized that summer is a different time.  In fact, I call the 3 months of summer the critical JJA months.  They are critical for this very reason.

If you take the summer off, people will think you are out of business!

This summer of 2022 is the one summer you don’t want to take off.  This summer, more than ever, people are ready to connect face to face.  As a leader of direct sellers, this is a summer of opportunity to encourage them to get back to holding in-home events and speaking events.

You know, you can’t force your team  to work over the summer.  We work with a volunteer workforce.

  • You’ve got to be an encourage that inspires your team.
  • You are their cheerleader to keep them taking action.

Today I have 5 ways to help you motivate and inspire your team have a summer of opportunity in 2022. This training is also on my you tube channel and will show you how to keep your team taking action and have a summer of high sales, consistent bookings and grow a new team of business builders.

Leading a team over the critical summer months can be daunting, but if you keep your focus on serving your team with systems, you will sail through summer having your best team growth.

#1 WAY– Inspire & motive by being an exampleI know you hear this a lot but this summer, be the leader to hold the first in-home event either at your place or a host’s home.

Show them the way!

Show them the joy of seeing the faces of friends light up when they use your products and place orders.    Show them how a special get-together with friends, learning how to use your products and offering a fun shopping experience like none other with first class service and hospitality.

Share the details of this experience in your Team Facebook group, in your newsletter.   At your team meeting create a short training on the details of getting together face to face with a hostess and guests.

Show them the way to get back out there and illustrate the benefits of this high performance activity.

#2 WAY – Communicate using Success Words.  Success words bring the community together.   It’s important to use uplifting words and always share what’s possible for them when they take action. Think about words that inspire you?

The one word I use a lot in my vocabulary is the word “love.”  How often do you use the word “love” with your team? In direct sales

  • we LOVE what we do,
  • we LOVE our team,
  • we LOVE our products, and
  • we LOVE seeing others be successful.

Sharing success words often brings the team together.  You are painting a picture of what they can achieve when you use success word.

If team members aren’t engaging or taking action, find out why…  That means picking up the phone or meeting face to face.  Not texting or emailing, having a voice to voice conversation is the best way to communicate with team members to discover how you can help them.  And that’s when you can use uplifting words to help them “feel” successful.

Write down a list of success words to use.   In fact, let’s get a list going here and write in the comments below one of your favorite success words or w rite down the first success word you want to communicate to your team this summer.

Success words I used a lot to inspire my team were:

  • Being unstoppable,
  • making a difference
  • serving others
  • passionate about we do.

I look forward to seeing your word in the comments below.

#3 WAY – Hold fun team events this summer.  Every July I held a red white & blue  picnic for my team. Husbands, partners and kids and good food built the camaraderie with the team.  At every team event make sure you’re delegating a team member with a special task.   Delegating team members makes them feel important and knowledgeable.

Who will you delegate to be a speaker,  a greeter, or lead a discussion at your next Team Meeting?.  You’ll find these team members love this  appreciation  and you’ll see who is ready to step up in leadership.

# 4 WAY –  RecognitionHow are you recognizing people on your team?  If you are only recognizing them on Facebook, you’re missing a lot!

Recognizing people face to face with a handshake or a special hug, is one of the highest ways to inspire people to take action. Be consistent with your recognition this summer.

Recognize top people, top sales, top bookings, top recruiting.  And don’t forget to recognize New team members, and their first successful party. Any kind of firsts motivates and inspires people to do more.

Increase their motivation  with a summer team incentive.  I teach my coaching clients to create  benchmark incentives. These are incentives that are simple to track every month. Always want to make a big deal about the people who earn these awards.

What you recognize will be repeated!

  • When team members are recognized for $1000 parties , it inspires others to have $1000 parties!
  • Team member who win trip awards – inspire others to win trip awads.

Make this a summer of recognition your team won’t forget.

#5 WAY- Share Resources.  This not only motivate them it motivates you!

I’m talking about personal development. Do you schedule personal development on your calendar, like reading books, or listening to podcasts or company related training?  As a leader you don’t want to  miss a company training, a company meeting, a company conference.

Remember your team is watching you!

If you’re attending company events or online courses, share these resources with your team.  Resources that help them sell more, book more and recruit more. This summer share as many resources to help them take action and have a summer of success.

When YOU are inspired and motivated with this resources , your team will get so excited they will be ready to take action!

If you are not getting enough engagement from your team, think about these 5 ways and which one is missing for you.

  • Are you leading by example and sharing your experience.
  • Perhaps you’re not using enough success words to encourage your team members to do more.
  • Do you need to delegate more team members at your meetings.
  • What does your recognition look like – is it simple, yet effective and will be repeated?
  • remember to share all the resources available to you to keep them up to date with the latest trends.

So pay attention when someone says, “I’m going to take the summer off.”  Remind them about losing big time momentum if they lose 3 months of business.
