Summer is the one time of the year where it’s possible to find a favorite space to curl up and read a book.  For me, that’s either early in the morning or late afternoon.

If I plan my day, I spend 30 minutes reading non-fiction in the morning and 30 minutes Fiction in the evening.

This Summer is a special summer.  We are coming out of the fog of Covid and life is changing.  But what never changes is enjoying a time to read a good book.

BOOKS THAT MAKE AN IMPACT ON YOUR BUSINESS

There are books that I’ve read that made an impact on my business (and life) that I can’t help but recommend them to coaching clients and friends.

This week I thought about where we’re at in the season of our business in 2022 and decided to recommend 5 books that I believe will have an impact and change the way you think about your business.

So, if you’re looking for a great book to read this summer, tune in!

#1  “THE MIRACLE MORNING” by Hal Elrod.  I am always amazed when I ask people if they’ve heard of this book and they answer “no.”  I believe it’s  MUST READ for everyone.    Hal Alrod starts off by saying, “Changing your approach to waking up in the morning you will literally change everything.”

He gives you a formula to help you have the BEST day, every day!   He calls it S.A.V.E.R.S.

S.A.V.E.R.S

  • S IS FOR SILENCE.  spending time in meditation, prayer, reflection or even deep breathing.
  • A IS FOR AFFIRMATIONS.  This is a powerful way to manifest your desires.
  • I IS FOR VISUALIZATION. It’s important to visualize your day and week. If you have a vision board, it’s a great time to review the pieces of your life.
  • E IS FOR EXERCISE. This is an easy for one me as I walk 2-1/2 miles at least 4 mornings a week. But he says if you only run in place for one minute, you will feel the effects of a great day.
  • R IS FOR READING. What are you reading every day? 20 minutes will do it for you.
  • S IS FOR SCRIBING – Journaling is a fantastic way to get your thoughts in order for the day.

This Summer I recommend you  start your MIRACLE MORNING ROUTINE!   What I love the most about this book is you can do your S.A.V.E.R.S. ROUTINE in 6 minutes.  Yes!   One Minute for each one.

My MORNING routine makes me feel alive and ready for every day.  And writing my to-do list in my ONE NOTEBOOK JOURNAL, keeps me focused on what I want to get to done every day.

#2   Do What You Love What You Do, by Holy Tucker MBE.  I absolutely loved this book.  This is a book about empowering secrets that turn your passion into profit.  It’s basically about LOVING WHAT YOU DO and living the GOOD LIFE!

It’s all about purposeful planning which is something I teach in my DIRECT SALES PLANNER SYSTEM every week.   Purposeful planning is about keeping things simple and in the flow and using your time well.

And a woman after my own heart, she says  To WIN in business you must set goals, write them down and measure what’s working and what’s not. “   This is what we do in my FREE Facebook Community.

And if anything gets you to read this book, you’ll love HOLLY’S HACKS at the end of every chapter with an exercise or a specific tip that you can implement right away.

She caught the essence of our Direct Sales World.  She recommends running your business as force for good.  To me, that means, serving customers, helping hostesses have high successful parties and empowering team members.

#3  The Purple Cow by Seth Godin.  This book has been around a long time and he’s written more books over the years, but I seem to always go back to recommending this book because it’s a great reminder about standing out from the crowd and being what he calls “Remarkable!”

Seth says, “Something remarkable is worth talking about.  Worth noticing. Exceptional. New. Interesting.  It’s a Purple Cow. Boring stuff is invisible.  It’s a brown cow.”

If you take this analogy in today’s world of social selling, you will realize the best way to stand out is to be VISIBLE and REMARKABLE like a Purple Cow, not a Brown cow.

It’s a quick read, but a very IMPORTANT quick read.  He asks if you have email addresses of the 20% of your customer base that loves what you do?  If not start getting hem.  If you do, what could you make for these customers that would be super-special?

Like my own Newsletter that goes out every week, my goal is to deliver super value.

#4  How to make people like you in 90 seconds or less, by Nicholas Boothman.   If I had a dollar for every time I recommended this book, I’d be a wealthy woman.   This is the book that was one of the catalysts that grew my million dollar team.

Moving to a new city, I had to learn how to network.   This book taught me how to make a FIRST CONTACT at networking groups and connect with people, and ultimately turn them into  customers and hostesses.     It was the catalyst for my NETWORKING system that I teach my coaching clients in my Journey to Leadership group coaching program.

In this book, you’ll learn the benefits of connecting face to face in 90 seconds.  He’ll teach you about the 90-second land of rapport where people like each other.  It’s not all talk, it’s listening and making eye contact.

He taught me so much about how to network and connect with people in this little book.

Make this summer a summer of networking and gaining 50 new customers and hostesses.  Imagine what your business will look like when the fall of 2022 rolls around.

#5  Grit,  by Angela Duckworth.  In a conversation this week, I asked a past client how long she’d been a leader in her business.  She replied, “7-1/2 years.”  That is a milestone and my reply to her was, “That’s what makes you successful!   You have GRIT and you understand the benefits of the long game in Direct Sales.”

That’s what Angela Duckworth teaches us in her book.  She opens with an amazing story  and study about applying to be a cadet at West Point and what it takes to make it through “The Beast.”   You would think story about applying for the military would have no bearing on you or your business, but believe me when you read this story you realize it’s not those who have the highest SAT scores, or athletic ability, or even leadership ability.  Those who made it through the BEAST had grit!

Sometimes, we’re lucky enough to come across a book that’s so good and so powerful that we love getting lost in its pages (over and over again).  This is how I felt when I read this book.

Angela says, “The power of grit helps you achieve your potential.  What we accomplish in the marathon of life depends tremendously on our grit – our passion and perseverance for long-term goals.”

It’s that old saying I love to share with my Coaching Clients, “You are successful because you decided NOT to QUIT!”

I LOVE finding time to read over summer.  My bedside table is full and I’m hoping to get them all read in between enjoying  the summer of 2022 which is full of staycations and visiting friends and family.

Please message me on Instagram that you like this blog post.  If you read one of these books I’d love to hear from you about how it impacted your business.
