Have you ever said, “I wish I read more?” or, “I wish I had TIME to read more?” or, maybe you’ve bought a stack of business books with the best intentions, only to let them collect dust on your shelf?
You’re not alone. As entrepreneurs, we are BUSY. Between client work, marketing, planning, and all the daily tasks, reading often feels like a luxury we can’t afford.
But here’s the truth: developing a small, consistent reading habit — just 10 pages a day — can completely transform the way you think, lead, and grow your business. Let me show you how.
The Struggle is Real
Running a business from home comes with both freedom and pressure. We wear multiple hats, juggle competing priorities, and often feel like there’s never enough time.
It’s easy to deprioritize reading in favor of “doing.” But what if reading was one of the most powerful things you could do for your business growth?
That’s what I discovered — and it changed everything for me and when I taught it to my coaching clients, they discovered it helped them as well.
Here’s how it works!
My Simple Reading System
Over the years, I’ve tried different reading routines, but one method finally stuck. Here’s how I read every day without stress — and actually retain what I learn.
- I read nonfiction in the morning: I choose books that fuel my business brain — mindset, strategy, marketing, or productivity. Fiction (which I also love) gets saved for bedtime.
- I commit to just 10 pages a day: That’s it. No pressure to read a whole chapter or set a timer. Just 10 pages — usually 15–20 minutes max. It’s enough to build momentum without feeling overwhelming.
- I take notes in stages. At first, I just highlighted. Then I moved to sticky notes. Now, I keep a simple notebook beside me. I jot down insights, page numbers, and reflections as I read.
- I digitize my notes. Once I finish a book, I type up my handwritten notes into a digital document. This way, I have a searchable treasure trove of ideas, quotes, and strategies ready to go whenever I’m writing, coaching, or planning content.
This system turns every book into a living resource I can return to again and again.
Why This Works So Well for Entrepreneurs
I believe reading isn’t just about consuming information — it’s about building your mental muscle. When you read consistently:
- You get exposed to new strategies, frameworks, and success stories.
- You begin to recognize patterns in what works and what doesn’t.
- You grow your confidence — because you’ve learned from others who’ve been there.
Reading fuels your creativity. It gives you things to talk about in your content.
After I read, “The One Thing” By Gary Keller with Jay Papasan I FOCUSED on this one mantra and still do today. Read my notes where it says, “What’s the One Thing this that will make everything else easier.” It’s this question that has helped me prioritize what’s important and how I achieve my goals every day.
Reading can help you serve your clients with deeper insight. And best of all, it reconnects you with your bigger vision. All of this… from just reading 10 pages a day.

How to Start Your 10-Page Habit
Here’s how to build a simple, sustainable reading routine:
- Pick a book you’re excited about — not one you feel like you “should” read.
- Add it to your morning routine — right after coffee, before checking emails.
- Keep a notebook nearby — jot down one takeaway each day.
- Make your book visible — leave it on your desk or counter as a visual reminder.
- Celebrate your progress — finishing a book is a win. Honor it!
The Power of Compound Reading.
You don’t need to read more — you just need to start.
Ten pages a day might feel small, but let’s do the math:
10 pages a day = 300 pages a month.
Most business books are between 150 and 200 pages, which means you could be reading 1–2 books every month — books that sharpen your thinking, spark creativity, and move your business forward.
Over time, this simple habit compounds into massive insight, clarity, and growth.
Your future self — and your business — will thank you.
