Catch the vision

Recently, I was asked to share a top team building activity that helped my team reach the #1 position in the country. There were numerous activities that led up to this success, but I think the number one activity would be our focus on a team recruiting culture.

We had a phrase that I loved to repeat often which was

“Catch the Vision.”

I would share a story about walking on the beach and finding a magic lamp, (like Aladdin’s lamp.) When you you rub the magic lamp a genie appears and grants you a wish.

So, the story goes.. “Genie, my wish is for you to zap me three years into the future. I want you to show me the enormous team I’ve built. Show me the hundreds of prosperous, happy, financially free women who love their fashion business and are living the life they always dreamed. I would love to be able to see this. It would be great a great inspiration for me.”

So the genie waves his magic wand and says the magic words, and you’re looking down on this vast network of excited, enthusiastic women all looking chic, trendy and professional who are building strong fashion businesses.

Then, you notice something. There’s not one face in that crowd that you recognize. So you say to the genie, “ but I don’t know anyone of these people, they are all strangers?”

Then the genie lets out a booming laugh making the earth rattle and shake.   And he leans down to you and says, “That’s true, master. That’s the magic of Direct Sales!”

The purpose of sharing this story is to catch the vision of what’s possible for you in Direct Sales when you have a passion for recruiting. Building my team recruiting culture I worked on helping my team catch the vision and becoming passionate about recruiting strangers. Here are 5 ways we worked on being passionate about recruiting.

  • Be passionate about your focus! We set recruiting goals. How many? How soon? What will you give up to focus on recruiting?
  • Be passionate about the type of person you want on your team. Write a list of quality character traits of people you want and what they need in their life? Who are you looking for?
    1. People who value the golden rule?prime prospect alert 6
    2. People who want independence?
    3. Positive, sharing, caring people?
    4. People looking for extra income?
    5. People who want to be their own boss?

Get very specific. Review this list every day. If you know who you’re looking for, they will appear.

  • Be passionate about your Compensation plan. Know how to share it. Know what it takes to get to every level. Know the income plan.
  • Be passionate about sharing your business opportunity at least TWICE A WEEK! This is a big one!   Many people share their opportunity maybe once a month! Of course, this means holding parties every week and following up with prospects you meet often
  • Be passionate about helping others. Teams bond when everyone in the team is valued. Welcome new team members, help them get off to a strong start and teach your team to share and help each other.

Are you ready to catch the vision?   How do you see yourself in your direct sales business three years down the road? Will you have a team of hundreds of prosperous, happy, financially free women who love their business and are living the life they always dreamed?

Having passion in your business is about loving what you do!   If you really want to build a dynamic team of excited, motivated people, find your passion for every part of the recruiting process.
