prime prospect alertI find many direct sellers don’t like recruiting because they think it’s too hard, or they don’t want to be too pushy, or they are not comfortable talking about their business OPPORTUNITY.

One of the biggest mistakes many people make is thinking recruiting is a one-time shot. They ask someone and get discouraged because they don’t see that recruiting is a “process.”   It’s a process that is part of your day-to-day activities. It’s a process that you must learn step-by-step to get into a recruiting rhythm.

Prospecting for prime prospects is one of the many steps I share with my coaching clients. When they realize it takes different amounts of time for different prospects, they are ready to embrace the process.   Here are 5 ways we work together in finding prime prospects for your business.

  1. We focus on looking for people who are looking for an opportunity. It’s a waste of time to put a lot of effort into trying to convince someone who is really not looking. That’s why I call them “prime” prospects. These are people who are open to learning more about your opportunity.
  1. We practice learning the art of the invitation. Once you find someone who’s open to learning more, the next step is to invite them to hear more in a conversation. Conversations build relationships and people begin to know you, like you and trust you.
  1. And that’s the key to building relationships. How do you do that? It’s all about a communication strategy and learning how to keep the doors open for getting together. Finding ways to keep in front of your prospects to share the benefits and opportunities available, which leads us to
  1. Focusing on them!   Building relationships is about knowing “their” story. Too many times consultants get nervous and all they do is talk about themselves and their business. It’s imperative you learn about your prospects and find the reason your opportunity is a great fit for them.
  1. Lastly, It’s the patience thing. Realize that some people jump in right away, some people take a few days, a week, a few months and more! Be patient and know that they will join when the time is right for them.
